A POLICE officer was taken to hospital at the weekend after being attacked by a dog during an alleged incident in Havoc Park, Dumbarton.
It's understood the officer was making checks in relation to members of the travelling community when he was attacked by the dog, a black and white Irish Terrier breed.
The incident happened at 9.40am on Saturday and the officer sustained three puncture wounds to his lower right leg, which required iodine, a dressing and a course of antibiotics after attending hospital.
The Reporter has learned that the owner of the dog will be subject to a report to the Procurator Fiscal in relation to allegedly failing to keep his dog under control, in contravention of the Control of Dogs (Scotland) Act 2010.
