WEST Dunbartonshire will pay its respects to the fallen during the annual Remembrance Sunday celebrations this weekend.

There will be services at the number of venues in and around Dumbarton and the Vale on Sunday.

Starting at 10.45am, a service of Remembrance will take place at Levengrove Park, Dumbarton before wreaths at laid at the War Memorial.

At Old Kilpatrick, a service at the Cenotaph starts at 10.45am, at Glen Lusset.

And at 11am a similar service will be held at the War Memorial in the schoolyard of the former Milton Primary School.

A service will be held in Bowling, starting at 11.30am at the War Memorial in Bowling Park, while the one in Renton begins at 12.30pm at the Cenotaph, beside Renton Primary School and Tobias Smollett monument.

Later in the afternoon, beginning at 3pm a service will also take place at the Cenotaph at Christie Park, Alexandria.

West Dunbartonshire Provost William Hendrie said: “This year, just like every year, West Dunbartonshire comes together to recognise the sacrifice of those brave individuals who lost their lives in war.

"I would encourage residents to get out to their local Remembrance Sunday event to join their neighbours in paying their respects."

The annual service of Remembrance is to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

Other Remembrance events are expected to take place in Duntocher and Clydebank Town Hall.
