POLICE are investigating the discovery of two bodies at addresses in West Dunbartonshire.

In the first case, the body of a woman was discovered at a property in Dumbarton on Thursday.

The Reporter understands that police officers made the grim discovery at around 1.40pm on Thursday in Bellsmyre Avenue.

At the moment police are treating the death of the woman as "unexplained" and the woman has not been named.

It had been believed that the deceased was initially a 45 year-old, but fresh investigations have revealed that she was, in fact, 79.

A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death.

A police spokesman said: "Inquiries are continuing and police are treating the death as unexplained.

"A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal and police inquiries are continuing.

And on Sunday, at around 4.40pm, the body of a 55 year-old man was found within an address in Redburn, Bonhill.

Enquiries are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances of the man's death.

Both cases are not linked.
