AN appeal has been issued to find Scottish Liberal Democrat candidates in West Dunbartonshire who are interested in standing for the Council elections in May.
Local Lib Dems have a full team in place to fight the May election in the Helensburgh area- but they also want to stand a team for West Dunbartonshire.
As a result they wish to hear from people who believe they have the experience and skills to be an effective councillor.
Aileen Morton, Chair of the Dumbarton Lib Dems and herself a councillor in Helensburgh, said: "Every day you hear people say things like, ‘What were they thinking?
"I could do better than most of these councillors.’ Well, this is a chance to put yourself forward and run for the Council.
"If you feel you could do better; live in West Dunbartonshire; are passionate about improving your community; have time and commitment, and believe in a liberal society then it would be great to hear from you."
For a chance to discuss what would be involved, email aileenmorton1@gmail.com
When asked what a Liberal society means Aileen said: "We exist to build a fair, free and open society.
"We believe in equality of opportunity and for people to develop their talents to the full.
"We champion the devolvement of power to local communities hence our concern about the SNP’s obsession with centralisation and their threat to local authorities."
