One of the tasks the community council takes on is informing the various departments within WDC of local infrastructure that is needing attention.

This we do once a year and send in a "to do list" for the various departments to budget for in the coming year.

The departments do add to there job lists and most get done over the year.

To give just a few examples that are taking a little longer: Many street sign names throughout our area are now unreadable or completely bleached out.

The problem of bleaching is known to the roads department and signs will eventually be replaced on a rolling programme.

Another problem we have highlighted is road markings both locally and the wider area.

On many of the junctions white road markings have vanished or only partly visible and have been for years.

Seemingly a liner vehicle has to be booked and dates fixed – if it rains continually during the period of hire – nothing gets done.

Perhaps there is only one of these vehicles and crew available for hire in the whole of Scotland.

There is also the yellow lines to mention – is this a waste of time and effort putting these down as many motorists take no notice of them in West Dunbartonshire.

The yellows are there for a reason, to make roads safer and stop traffic log jams.

A word of warning – Stirling council now have traffic wardens visiting Drymen – so be aware.

Last years Sustrans street design, station area and village square consultations were due to be finalized this April/May with £1m allocated by the Local authority to take plans forward.

This has been delayed till Autumn 2018 due to other possible infrastructure plans for Balloch coming to light.

National Park Partnership Plan goes live on April 10 for 12 weeks to allow community’s to make comment. Should be on their website from that date and well worth looking at. A five years plan that affects us all, so by all means make comments if there is something you would like to add or have reservations about.

BHCC meet on the first Wednesday of the month in the National Park HQ between 10am and noon. The public are welcome to attend.
