A MAN, who carried a weapon in public in Dumbarton, faces a lengthy jail term when he returns to court later this month for sentence.

Bryan Wood, 30, who's address was given as a prisoner of Low Moss Prison, Bishopbriggs, pled guilty at Dumbarton Sheriff Court this week to carrying a pair of scissors in public while on bail.

The court heard from depute fiscal Sarah Healing that Wood, was found to be carrying the weapon when he was searched by police on March 1, this year, on Milton Brae, Dumbarton. It was revealed that at the time of the offence he was on bail from Dumbarton Justice of the Peace Court, an order imposed on him on January 9, 2017, just two months earlier.

Sentence was deferred on him by Sheriff William Gallacher until May 17. The sheriff called for a full background report and remanded him in custody.
