A DUMBARTON man who violently assaulted his partner in an attack at her home in Milton will be sentenced later this month – after a sheriff asked for confirmation of whether the couple were still together.

Cheyenne Hillier appeared at the town’s sheriff court for sentencing on Friday after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to injuring the woman by seizing her on the body, pulling her on to a bed and pinning her down, seizing her by the hair and pulling her from the bed, chasing her, seizing her on the neck, pinning her against the wall, throwing her against a radiator causing her to fall, seizing her on the body, throwing her on to a couch and striking her on the head at a property in Lennox Drive on April 8.

Hillier, 36, also admitted shouting, swearing, acting aggressively towards her, repeatedly uttering derogatory remarks, threatening violence and throwing items within the house.

Sentence on Hillier, currently living in Whiteford Avenue in Bellsmyre, had been deferred for an updated background report to be obtained – but there was some confusion in court on Friday after it was discovered that report stated both that the couple were still together and that the relationship was over.

Hillier’s solicitor, Lauren Kerr, told the court: “He says his relationship with his partner is not over. They were in contact last night and she contacted him this morning to wish him luck. That’s at odds with what is in the report.”

Miss Kerr said the couple had planned to get married in May but had put their plans on hold to enable the court case to be dealt with.

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry deferred sentence until June 23 for an updated report to clarify the status of the relationship.
