A CARE home in Cardross has unveiled its new boss.

Cathy Eaglen has been installed as the new care manager at the home, in Carman Road.

Now Cathy is aiming to lead the way when it comes to care being "flexible" and "person centred."

Cathy told The Reporter: "We had a situation whereby a husband desperately wanted to care for his wife at home, her dementia had increased along with a deterioration in her mobility.

"I met with the husband to discuss how we could support both him and his wife because he was dealing with carer stress and burnout.

"In conjunction with a social worker we decided to try something very unique.

"The lady would stay at Clydeview Monday to Friday and on Friday afternoon the husband would collect his wife and take her home for the weekend, bringing her back on either the Sunday evening or the Monday."

This plan, according to Cathy, enabled the couple to have the "best of both worlds," as Cathy explained: "He can recharge his batteries and sleep through the week, which means he can cope better with the demands of caring for his wife on the weekends."

Cathy is happy for people to pop in and have a look around and discuss options as to they we can support a person needing additional care.

Pets, depending on type and size, may be welcome to move in with a resident, if needed.
