POLICE are appealing to anyone in Cardross who may have information which could help solve an attempted murder bid.

Cops this week have sent out an SOS over a dark grey Audi A1, which they believe could be linked to their inquiry.

It's understood the vehicle was seen in close proximity to a Ford Focus at the time of the incident on Friday, September 15, which saw a 42-year-old man confronted at his home in Glasgow Road, Renfrewshire, between 9pm and 9.45pm by a man firing a weapon at him.

The Audi A1 may have been stolen from the Cardross area on September 11 or 12, while police have established that the Ford Focus was stolen from Somerville Place in Helensburgh on September 13 or 14.

The car was found burnt out in Arkleston Road in Paisley a short time after the incident.

The Audi was displaying the registration plate MM1 EYY at the time of the theft, although police believe that may have been changed.

DI David Wagstaff, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have yet to establish a clear motive for this attack and we are piecing together the circumstances of what has happened. We believe the victim was the intended target and it’s imperative we trace whoever is responsible for this reckless act.”

Anyone with any information should call Paisley CID via 101, quoting incident number 4362 of Friday, September 15, 2017. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be passed on anonymously.
