FREEVIEW viewers in the Dumbarton area could experience disruption to their TV services in the coming weeks due to major engineering work at the Rosneath transmitter.

Some homes on the fringes of coverage may temporarily lose Freeview reception as an antenna is replaced at the top of the 114m mast.

The essential work is needed to prepare for a future change to TV airwaves required by the UK Government and Ofcom, the media regulator, for the development of mobile broadband services.

Satellite and cable TV services are not affected.

On-screen messages will notify viewers ahead of the work which is expected to begin this week, subject to weather conditions.

Engineering is scheduled to run to Thursday, October 26 and TV services will be subject to disruption throughout this time.

Anyone affected by the work may be able to retune to the neighbouring Millburn Muir transmitter to restore their main channels.

Advice on this will be available free online and from the Freeview Advice Line.
