A BONHILL man has been told to stay out of trouble for the next two months – and warned that if he doesn’t, he shouldn’t expect to walk out of the front door at Dumbarton Sheriff Court next time he appears.

O’Hare resident John McLaughlin, 43, is currently two-thirds of the way through an 18-month community payback order (CPO) imposed on him by the sheriff after he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing. He made offensive comments, acted in an aggressive manner, seized hold of a woman and smeared food on her face.

The offences happened at a house in Waterside, Dumbarton, on December 5, 2016.

At a CPO review hearing this week, defence lawyer Kenny Clark told the court: “He is now back in work in a supervisory role.”

McLaughlin was told by Sheriff Maxwell Hendry: “If I see a good report then you can expect to walk out of the front door when you next appear in front of me.

“If it’s bad, then don’t have that expectation.”

Sheriff Hendry set a further community payback review for McLaughlin for June 1 and ordered him to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work within the next six months. He was ordained to appear.
