A mum from Alexandria has admitted assaulting the father of her children in a row over £5.

Rhona Hamill, 38, pleaded guilty to punching her ex-partner on July 8, after she gave him £70 and had only paid her back £65.

A row broke out and when the victim was on his phone, she ran up behind him and punched him on the back of the head.

Last Tuesday, Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard Hamill, has four children with the victim, the youngest of whom is 14.

The couple are now separated and Hamill has a previous conviction for attacking the man while they were a couple.

Her solicitor Bert Thompson told the court that the couple have been apart for five years but remain in contact for their children.

He noted that the man received no medical treatment for his injuries.

Sheriff William Gallacher told Hamill: “I’m not impressed by this. I’m not impressed as you have children together. I wonder what your children think is going on? There is an example you’re supposed to set your children and this is not it.” Hamill was released on good behaviour for three months.

Sheriff Gallacher told her: “I expect you to behave in a way that is acceptable to everyone.”
