WEST Dunbartonshire Council is considering plans to roll out a resident satisfaction survey after several local area were revealed as the some of the most deprived in the country.

The well-known 'deprivation map' has resulted in council's officers idea to follow in the likes of Shetland's local authority by asking residents for their thoughts on their home town.

The plan would see the 14-question survey distributed online were locals will be able to rank their opinions on services provided in the area, from housing to transport.

A community planning meeting with council bosses and other local service leaders, agreed the move could be beneficial to determining where the problems within the community lie.

Amanda Coulthard, head of community planning, said: "I think we can get a good use of it, particularly if we have a target awareness of it."

As previously reported in the Reporter, the map published by Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation showed pockets of West Dunbartonshire where deprivation was rife.

Parts of Linnvale were ranked the worst, while areas within Dumbarton came out on top.

Similarly Kilbowie was named the most vulnerable area and Dalmuir was said to be the most improved area.
