TWO pupils at Vale of Leven Academy have been picked to go on a modern apprenticeship with the NHS.
S6 pupils Amy Laing and Matthew Donald have been selected for the three-year scheme.
Head teacher at the school, Paul Darroch, said: "We are delighted that two of our S6 pupils, Amy Laing and Matthew Donald, have been selected to complete a three-year Medical Laboratory Assistant Modern Apprenticeship with the NHS.
"These highly competitive apprenticeships takes place across three hospitals in four different disciplines; Haematology at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Pathology at Queen
Elizabeth University Hospital, Biochemistry and Microbiology at Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.
"Amy and Matthew will also be going to Glasgow Clyde College one day a week doing an Applied Science HNC and completing a SVQ on Industrial Science throughout the three years.
"Both pupils felt confident at the interview; having studied Biology and Chemistry."
He added: "There were many applicants for only four positions and we are exceptionally proud that Amy and Matthew’s qualifications, skills, qualities and hard work have been recognised. We wish them well."
