LOVE was in the air when a happy couple celebrated 50 years of marriage.

And to mark the special occasion Provost Douglas McAllister was on hand to wish them many congratulations.

Tommy and Marie Morrison, who live in Old Kilpatrick, celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, March 25.

Tommy and Marie both grew up on the same street in Drumchapel, Kilcloy Avenue.

Marie worked as a seamstress and Tommy was an electrician.

They married in St Mark's Church, Drumchapel, on March 25 1967. Tommy was 22 years old and Marie was 21years-old.

They have two daughters, Lynn and Karen, who are both married and have made Tommy and Marie proud grandparents to two boys, Thomas and Adam and two girls, Holly and Zoe.

The couple are far travelled too. In 1972, Tommy and Marie lived in Cyprus for a year and a half, based there with Tommy's work as a civil servant.

He was based in Platres in the Troodos mountains.

Tommy and Marie loved Cyprus but unfortunately they had to leave in 1974 due to the civil war breaking out on the island with Turkey.

Tommy continued to work as an electrical engineer and then moved into the SSEB controls room in Yoker which later changed to Scottish Power.

He continued to work there until his retirement.

Tommy is a member of the Old Kilpatrick Bowling Club and also enjoys the odd game of golf.

Marie had had several jobs, working in Beatties Biscuit factory, Phildar wool shop, Goldbergs and later in MacKays until she retired.

Marie enjoys her weekly meet ups with her friends where they are ladies that do lunch then go to the Bingo to catch up and share cakes.

For their Silver Wedding Anniversary in 1988 they went on their first cruise to the Caribbean and they loved it so much.

This is their favourite type of holiday now and the pair have been on many different cruises since.

For their Golden Wedding Anniversary they revisited the Caribbean and had a ball.
