Ward 1 Lomond

Louise Robertson

Community Party candidate

I HAVE been living in the Vale since I was three weeks old and all my political ideas are based on what I have seen happening to our beautiful area.

I have been politically active most of my adult life, involved in the Women's and the Peace movement, as well as being active in local political issues, being the original chair of (and named) the Save the Vale campaign.

I am standing for the Community Party because I think that we have been badly let down by Labour and the opposition SNP Councillors who are elected to make decisions on our behalf, but this administration has reduced the number of Full Council Meetings to four a year and delegated powers to unelected officials.

I will be a full time councillor and calling for monthly meetings to be back on the agenda.

We will not be standing for either Holyrood or Westminster, but for local solutions to local problems.

In Lomond Ward we have the leaders of both major parties standing and I want to hold them to account for the fact that we women in West Dumbarton die younger than women anywhere else in Scotland.

I think our young people are in a worse situation than we were when we were young, when we could get a council house and a reasonably well paid job.

Now they have unsecured extortionate private lets and zero hours contracts.

My reason for standing for election is to encourage more people to take an active part in their community and start feeling empowered again in the belief that a better world is possible.

Vote Louise Robertson No 1 on 4th May.
