Lomond Ward

Hazel Sorrell

(Scottish Labour Party)

IT has been a real privilege for me to serve the people of Lomond Ward on West Dunbartonshire Council since 2012.

This is my first term as a councillor and I am pleased at how much my Ward has changed over such a short space of time with new houses, new schools, road improvements, play facilities and sport facilities.

I am particularly pleased about the new schools and nursery being built in Balloch which will include an additional support needs base.

I am proud to serve in the Labour administration which has delivered the first new council houses in West Dunbartonshire for a generation, securing massive investment for new housing in Haldane.

However, my ambition for my local community does not end there and I am excited for our future.

Over the next five years Labour wants to build 1000 affordable homes across West Dunbartonshire, including at least 60 homes in Haldane.

Not only does this mean much-needed new homes, it also creates jobs and invests in the local economy in Haldane.

I worked hard to secure £310,000 in the recent Labour Budget to kick-start the Inler Park renovations.

This is a really exciting initiative and I want the local community to get fully involved so that together we can transform the park into a hub of activity for families.

There’s already talk about all-weather sports pitch, a play park, a skate park, and making sure that there is something for everyone.

I hope that, with your support, I can continue to play a role in building a positive future for our local communities.
