TENS of thousands of people descended on the stunning banks of Loch Lomond at the weekend as Lomond Shores played host to Springfest.

It was a celebration of a wonderful array of food and drink and provided the ultimate day out experience.

The festival, now in its third year, attracted tens of thousands of foodies over Saturday and Sunday and saw more than 80 food and drink producers set up on the banks of Loch Lomond for two days of food, drink, and entertainment.

As well as delicious foods and artisan drinks, there was plenty of free entertainment and live music on offer.

Cookery masterclasses, foraging sessions, kids cooking workshops, Easter Bunny meet and greets, a petting zoo, and dinosaur encounters were just some of the activities for visitors to enjoy.

The festival is part of Scotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology in 2017, which will shine a spotlight on Scotland’s rich history and heritage.

The food and drink suppliers are either linked with Scotland or use Scottish produce and are passionate about food and drink.

Kat Kennedy, festival organiser, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the comments we’ve received from both producers and festival goers this weekend. The businesses that attended had a very successful weekend with many selling out of their produce completely and visitors took to social media to post about how much they loved their day out with friends and family. For the team who organise the festivals, it’s now straight into the planning stages for the Loch Lomond Food Drink Festival which takes place in early September and we will be looking to make things even bigger and better than before.’’

The Loch Lomond Food and Drink Festival, taking place on Saturday, September 2 and Sunday, September 3 will be the next major food and drink event taking place at Loch Lomond Shores.

This will be the 12th year of the popular festival which has been voted in the top 10 of the best food and drink festivals in Britain.
