April 3, 2002
MEMBERS of congregations from all Dumbarton churches came together from the three corners of the Burgh for a Good Friday service in the town centre.
Dumbarton Churches Together embarked on a Good Friday walk from the three areas with members of congregations carrying crosses.
The groups left from Dalreoch Church, St. Peter’s Church and Silverton Dam at 11 am passing all the town’s churches on route.
An hour later they arrived in the town centre where they were joined by town centre shoppers and over 400 people took part in the Easter-time service.
On arrival the Rev. John Clark, the Rev. Ewen Nicoll and Father Tom O’Rourke conducted a short service with musicians from the Rock Fellowship and Lennox Evangelical churches leading community singing.
Since the Dumbarton Churches Together first held the Good Friday walk three years ago it has become more and more popular and the nice weather on Friday also helped swell the numbers attending.
