DUMBARTON keepers have proved they are the best at shot-stopping.
Shot Stoppers Academy has unearthed almost 50 youngsters who have gone on to sign for junior or senior clubs, including Celtic’s David Marshall.
Now the search is on for more potential Craig Gordons at this summer’s specialist coaching sessions organised by ex-Partick Thistle keeper Tom Scott, Scottish Youth Football Association Development Squad goalkeeping coach, who set up the academy in 1994.
Interest in the area is already keen with Dumbarton-based Paul Kearney coming through the summer courses and finding a place on the specialist weekly coaching sessions.
The academy has recently kitted out their pupils in a deal struck with Italian sportswear giants Errea.
Now the chance to take part in quality programmes is being made available.
Places are on a first come — first served basis for boys club or school team goalkeepers aged between 12 and 21.
