A COUPLE who emigrated 42 years ago have returned home and for the first time — bringing 12 members of their family with them for a big reunion.

George and Moira Morrison flew over from Australia with their three children, five grandchildren, two son-in-laws, and a friend of their son for a wedding, two special birthdays and a get-together of 95 other relatives who live mainly in the Dumbarton and Vale of Leven areas.

George, 65, who was born in Allan Place, Dumbarton, said: “We have been back from time to time over the years and when the children were younger for family occasions, but this time we decided to come over and bring all the kids with us and have a big family reunion.

“Moira’s nephew was married on Friday and two of my sisters, who live in the area, have birthdays ending in zero so we are having a big party and afterwards a big family get together. We have relatives coming from Shetland, Northern Ireland and Cumbria as well as many who live locally.”

The Morrison family consists of daughter Heather, and her husband Mark and their three children Megan, 18, Laura, 15, and Andrew, 11; daughter Kirsty and her husband and their two children Hannah, 11, and Ryley, two-and-a-half; son David and a school friend Ross.
