A COMMUNITY-led project is adding some welcome horticulture to areas of Vale of Leven Academy.

The Leamy Foundation, along with Bellsmyre Commynity Gardens Group and West Dunbartonshire Council's Greenspace team, have all been busy sprucing up the school's green space area.

A spokesperson for The Leamy Foundation said: "Our participants, along with our partners at Bellsmyre Community Gardens Group and WDC Greenspace, have been very busy lately at the Vale of Leven Academy, renovating the growing area and preparing for Autumn.

"There was a lot of work to be done, weeding, clearing and digging out tree stumps. The pupils at the Academy have been fantastic, working alongside us, weeding, gathering up wood chippings and tending to the raised beds.

"There has been two new raised beds installed, with more on the way.

"There's still a fair amount of work to be done but each day reveals more of the growing space's rich potential and beautiful features such as the 'willow tunnel'.

"Our participants are thrilled to be involved in such a worthwhile project!"

And earlier this month the project saw another well attended sow and grow session at St Mungo's Episcopal Church in Alexandria.
