NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has been named Public Sector Employer of the Year at Scotland’s Modern Apprenticeship Awards for the second time.
The board won the award in 2015 and have again picked up this national award for showing exceptional commitment to the modern apprenticeship programme.
NHSGGC launched its apprentice programme in September 2013 and has appointed 160 apprentices across 14 different apprenticeship frameworks.
The programme provides a training package to attract, train and retain young people into the workforce, which in many areas is staffed by older employees.
Anne MacPherson, the board’s director of human resources and organisational development, said: “The Public Sector Employer of the Year award is a real validation of all the work we are carrying out to make a difference not just as a health board but as an inclusive, forward looking employer.”
