THERE were plenty of stars on show as Cardross primary pupils put on a stellar performance at the school’s annual nativity play.

Pint-sized performers from primary one lit up the stage in the production of Shine Star Shine, perfectly portraying well-known roles from Mary and Joseph to the shepherds, angels, and three kings.

The journey to the famous Bethlehem stable for the birth of baby Jesus was told by talented narrators from the school’s primary three class, while primary three musicians and provided a heavenly soundtrack.

Such was the demand to see the production the school put on three performances – including a special premiere for parents and families.

Local senior citizens and pre-fives enjoyed a special show which also included Christmas carols from singers in the school’s primary four and five classes.

The final show was held for the third year in a row at the Ardardan Estate, where the performers enjoyed treading the boards in a specially-built stage.

Sue Montgomery, director at Ardardan Estate, said: “It’s just lovely to have the children here, we have been involved with the school for a while and the nativity performance always makes us feel Christmassy.

“The teachers and head teacher have been so supportive and the nativity being performed here is good for the children and us, everyone really enjoys it. We are lucky to have such a lovely school in the village.”

A spokeswoman for Cardross Primary said: “This is the third year we have performed the nativity at Ardardan and it always has a special feel about it.”
