Dumbarton MSP Jackie Baillie has pledged her support for Age Scotland’s campaign to distribute free thermometers to the elderly this winter.

The campaign, funded by the Scottish Government, aims to help older residents stay warm, well and safe over the winter months.

Ms Baillie said: “Age Scotland’s thermometer door hangers are a smart way to help people stay warm and healthy this winter. Cold weather can seriously worsen existing health conditions, especially among older people, and put you at greater risk of flu, respiratory and circulatory diseases.

“This is a great way to make sure you are keeping your living areas at the optimum temperature. At the same time, a few simple tips can help you conserve energy and stay on top of your fuel bills.”

Keith Robson, Age Scotland’s charity director added: “We’re delighted that Jackie Baillie is supporting our Warm and Well campaign this winter. As temperatures drop, it’s vital that we all take steps to stay healthy, as well as looking out for the older and more vulnerable people in our communities.”

The thermometers can be collected from Ms Baillie’s constituency office in Dumbarton’s Church Street, or by contacting her office on 01389 734214.
