GIRLS from the 2nd Vale of Leven Brownie Unit got into the festive spirit by making a big donation to West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare.

The unit spent weeks gathering donations from across the Vale, and handed it over in gift-wrapped boxes ahead of Christmas as part of its work to support the community. Unit leader Shona Garry said: “We are so proud of the girls for the amazing effort they have made to do something special this festive season.

“We know that for many Christmas is a time to relax and spend time with family, but there are some in our community who are not fortunate enough to be able to do this.”

“The unit has been collecting donations for the last few weeks and they were all so excited to go in earlier this week and make their donations, knowing they were doing something to make a real difference.

“The importance of charity, sharing and working together as a team are just some of the things we focus on teaching the girls when they come along to the Unit, and we are delighted with how this last year has gone, as we aim to do even more to support the community next year.”

WDCF was set up in 2012 to provide an emergency supply system for people temporarily struggling to buy food.
