A BODY has been found in the search for missing Dalmuir man Scott McSporran.

It is understood the discovery was made Monday, January 8 in the Brucehill area of Dumbarton, where the 42-year-old was last seen by his brother on December 29.

The search for Scott was stepped up last Friday, as police officers returned to the scene to quiz members of the public and motorists in Napier Crescent and surrounding streets in the Brucehill area in a bid for information on his whereabouts.

Officers hoped the operation would help jog people’s memories to the week before, in case a member of the public had spotted Scott but thought nothing of it at the time.

Speaking on Friday, Sergeant Calum Fulton said: “Firstly, I would like to thank everyone we spoke to for their co-operation.

“We are currently assessing the information provided by those we spoke to last night and we will follow up any relevant lines of inquiry.

“Scott’s family are extremely upset by his disappearance and just want to know he is safe and well.”

He is described as white, 5ft 8, of slim build, clean shaven with short black hair.

When he was last seen he was wearing a grey bubble jacket, black north face jumper, blue denim jeans and orange and blue Nike trainers.

On Friday, Police Scotland’s air support unit confirmed via social mediathey were assisting colleagues on the ground in the search.
