A KNIFEMAN entered a Dumbarton home and stabbed a 34-year-old in a violent attack on Friday night.

Detectives say they believe the victim was targeted.

The attacker entered the Bonhill Road property at around 9pm on Friday, February 23 and stabbed a man before running out of the flat.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he is currently being treated for stab wounds.

On Saturday morning, hospital staff described his condition as stable.

The knifeman is described as white, 6ft tall and he was wearing a blue jumper.

Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton, of Clydebank CID, said: “Although we are trying to establish a motive for this violent attack we strongly believe that this was not random and that the 34-year-old man was the intended target.

"Never the less we will not tolerate such acts of violence and will endeavour to trace the person responsible.

“Officers are currently in the vicinity speaking to neighbours and local people in an attempt to gain further information and there will be additional high visibility patrols in the area who I would encourage local residents to speak to if they have any information or concerns.

“Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Clydebank CID immediately via 101 quoting incident number 4120 of 23 February 23.”

Alternatively calls can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
