A two-day musical spectacular planned for Dumbarton has been moved elsewhere.

Top acts including Sister Sledge, Hot Chocolate and Boney M had been due to perform at Dumbarton FC’s stadium as part of the Retro at the Rock event in May.

But the soul legends will now take to the stage at Glasgow’s iconic Barrowland instead, due to what organisers YOUR Radio called “unresolvable factors”.

A statement on the station’s Facebook page said: “Unfortunately, due to a number of unresolvable factors concerning council and alcohol licencing, noise levels and traffic management we are going to have to move our two 'Retro at The Rock' concerts at the Dumbarton Football Stadium on May 18 and 19 of this year.

“The new venue will be Glasgow's iconic Barrowland. This is the nearest suitable venue to Dumbarton that is available on those nights. We will run free bus transport from Dumbarton on both nights to Glasgow and back.

“Most of the acts booked have confirmed they will be happy to appear at the new venue, however we will not be in a position to finalise the line up until Friday 23rd March.

“Once again we apologise for any inconvienience. We tried our best to bring an event with a wee bit of 'buzz' to Dumbarton but circumstances deemed that it was not to be in the town.”

As the news was announced on social media some of those who had purchased tickets expressed their disappointment at the change of venue.

One Facebook user said: “That’s such a pity. I was looking forward to the concert with the backdrop of Dumbarton Rock.”

While another simply stated: “Furious”.

It is planned that general admission tickets for the Friday and Saturday and weekend tickets will be valid for the new venue, however, due to licensing restrictions no under 14s are allowed at Barrowland.

All hospitality tickets will also have to be voided as there are no separate hospitality areas at the new venue.

All child and hospitality tickets issued will be automatically refunded on April 3.

Those who have tickets and no longer wish to attend can apply for a refund on tickets, “less a £1 per booking charge levied by the ticket agency”, by email only to refunds@yourradio.scot quoting your booking reference. These tickets will also be refunded on April 3rd.

The organisers are unable to deal with requests for refunds by phone.
