POLICE revealed this week that they seized a shotgun from a house in Dumbarton.

Silverton and Overtoun Community Council were told this week by two community beat officers, that the weapon was recovered from a house in Bonhill Road. Police had been alerted that the owner had the gun at home and it was unlicensed.

Constable Andrew Lammey told members: “The main thing is that it is now off of the street.”

PC Lammey and colleague Constable Martin Cairns, reported to the community council at their monthly meeting in The Crosslet Centre, Dumbarton, that crime in the area had been on the upturn in the past month.

Councillors were told that 14 crimes had been reported in the Silverton and Overtoun area in the past month since the community council’s last meeting on March 12.

The other crimes included vandalism to a car, an ongoing fraud investigation, a breach of the peace and assault, a broken window to a car, another assault where one male has been charged, another assault where enquiries are continuing, possession of drugs, where a male has been reported and the theft from a car, where police are continuing their enquiries.
