Police Scotland have issued tips to the public to help people avoid becoming a victim of fraud after receiving numerous calls nationally in relation to victims being scammed out of their life savings.

The guidelines recommend that members of the public be wary of any requests to move money, as a genuine bank or organisation will never contact out of the blue to ask for a PIN, password, or to move money to another account; be careful of clicking on links/files; and to always question uninvited approaches for personal information by contacting the company directly using a known email or phone number.
