THE Scottish SPCA is appealing to animal lovers in Dunbartonshire to donate newspapers and towels for animals in their Dumbarton Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Scotland's animal welfare charity is caring for many animals who have been rescued or born in their care.

Centre Manager Joe McDade told the Reporter: “We’re struggling to keep up with the demand for newspapers and towels at the moment.

“We are very lucky that people regularly hand in items to our centre and we currently have lots of donated food for our animals. We ask that people do not donate any old duvets or pillows they may have as we find they are easy to tear apart.

“We have already cared for over 420 animals in Dumbarton this year, which is fantastic but clearly shows how busy we can be.

“We hope kind-hearted locals will get behind our appeal as it would make lots of animals very happy.

“If anyone wants to donate to our centre or meet some of the animals in our care they can do so by dropping by anytime between 10am - 4pm (closed Tuesday).”

Towels and newspapers can be handed into the centre which is located on Dumbarton Road, Milton.
