A planned charity event involving Royal Marines from HM Naval Base Clyde's Fleet Protection Group has been postponed.
As revealed in the Reporter today, the Rent-a-Royal event was due to run from Monday, September 19, to Friday, September 23, and would have seen Marines perform odd jobs to raise money for families of colleagues killed while serving in Afghanistan.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Royal Marines said this morning they will not be able to run Rent-a-Royal during the dates publicised. However, they will be looking at holding it another week, possibly later this year.
A spokesman for HM Naval Base Clyde said: "The Marines are obviously disappointed that they could not hold the Rent-a-Royal event during September. "I know that they were looking forward to getting out and about in the local community and raising some money for this good cause.
"They are enquiring into finding an alternative time to hold the event and hopefully we can announce the dates soon."
