MISSING: Paul

A MISSING MAN is believed to still be alive in Scotland, with a sighting reported in the area.

Paul McEwen was reported missing by his wife on November 17 after she had not seen him for 10 days.

Police are continuing to focus their enquiries in Glasgow following a possible sighting of Paul on under the Erskine Bridge on the River Clyde on New Year's Eve.

He had been wearing high-visibility trousers and jacket and was carrying a satchel. He has been asking for directions.

The woman saw an article in the press and recognised the man she had spoken to as Paul.

The 49-year-old handyman from Tilbury in Essex is described as white, of thin build, about 5ft 10in tall and has light-brown hair.

He speaks with a strong Scottish accent.

On New Year's Day, a relative living in Scotland received a Facebook friend request from a man named 'Scoop McEwen'. Although there was no profile photograph, the date of birth used by Scoop was the same as Paul's.

Paul's sister, Irene Cooper, said: "We are all desperately concerned for Paul. We just want to know he is safe and well. There are a lot of people who love and care for him and we want him to know that he can contact us anytime. The sighting on New Year's Eve and this Facebook interaction gives us hope that he is alive as we had feared the worst. The police are doing all they can to help trace him."

Anyone with information in connection with this missing person investigation is urged to contact Essex Police on 101.
