HOME-OWNERS from Dumbarton and the Vale are being encouraged to contact Strathclyde Fire and Rescue service and make sure their home is fully protected from the threat of fire.

The service is offering a free home fire safety visit to every property in the local area as they look to help put minds at ease of any worried locals.

They have also confirmed that they any resident who does not have a fire alarm in their home will have one fitted as a safety precaution.

To take advantage of this free initiative residents can arrange this in a number of ways, by calling 0800 0731 999, texting "Check" to 61611, or by visiting Dumbarton fire station.
