The successful Youth Mentoring was recognised with a Project Quality Award by the Scottish Mentoring Network.
The initiative has helped more than 200 young people in the nine years it has been running, encouraging them to openly discuss and share issues affecting their lives.
The initiative is supported by dedicated mentors who build relationships and trust with the young people through their mentoring skills. Youngsters are encouraged to build positive peer relationships and have better relationships with their families and friends.
The initiative is delivered by West Dunbartonshire Community Health and Care Partnership, who were delighted with the award.
Their convenor, Gail Casey added: “Having someone to turn to who will listen and not judge is vital in everyone’s life but more so for a young person. The work of the project is fully appreciated by the hundreds of young people who have used the service and the positive comments on the service is a great reward for everyone involved.”
