West Dunbartonshire Council confirmed to us today (Tuesday) Mr Rooney is to leave his post.
Terry Lanagan, executive director of Educational Services, said: “Charlie Rooney has been an outstanding head teacher and will be an extraordinarily hard act to follow.
"Under his watch, Our Lady and St Patrick’s High School has consistently achieved outstanding examination results. In 2012, the school received one of the best ever inspection reports for any secondary school in Scotland.
"The school has also won several Scottish Education Awards and Charlie himself was shortlisted for the accolade of Head Teacher of the Year. I wish him all the very best in his well-earned retirement.” Mr Rooney will step down on October 31, the Reporter understands.
