An excellent buffet dinner and songs from the mens vocal group Scozzesi, presented by Classical Musicians Scotland, was thoroughly enjoyed by all and raised nearly £800.
Scozzesi consists of Douglas Nairne, baritone, Alistair Digges, tenor, Roger Paterson, tenor, and Christopher Nairne, baritone, accompanied by pianist Edward Cohen. They sang a varied programme ranging from Puccini and Donizetti to Offenbach, Lerner/Lowe, and Lennon and McCartney.
The evening was organised by Mrs Katharine Liston,from Gartocharn, and compered by St John Scotland Chancellor Douglas Dow, who is the St John Dunbartonshire vice-chairman. Treasurer John Brown ran a raffle which contributed £250 to the proceeds. St John Dunbartonshire is a long-term financial supporter of the Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team, the Luss-based Loch Lomond Rescue Boat, the Acorn Centre for children at the Vale of Leven Hospital in Alexandria, the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice at Clydebank, and disabled access at Mugdock Country Park, Milngavie.
