Sheena Rollo, whose sister Mary was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) more than 30 years ago, was one of three finalists nominated for ‘MS Volunteer of the Year’ at this year’s MS Society Awards for her tireless dedication to the community.
Her efforts included setting up a drop-in centre for MS suffers in the area, providing a place for people to meet, socialise and keep physically active.
The awards were hosted by Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills and honoured a number of inspirational volunteers for their dedication and work to improve the lives of people with MS.
Despite not winning in her category, Sheena said: “I’m very flattered to be nominated. It’s great to be able to speak with others here and bond with them over these experiences.’ Scott Mills said: “This amazing and inspirational event shines a spotlight on MS.
“It’s a real honour to be at the awards today with my mum who has MS, to celebrate the hard work and dedication of all the people who make a difference to those living with the condition.”
