The club is proposing a move to land at Young’s Farm at the west end of town.

Speaking to the Reporter, a spokesman for the club, said: “We are extremely pleased with the turn out, with more than 200 supporters and local residents taking the time to come along to view our plans and discuss our proposals over the two days.

“Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and we received a number of specific, useful comments relating to facilities, access and phasing which we will consider further.

“Specifically, we are aware that some attendees wanted more detail on the costs associated with the relocation of the stadium.

“We understand this desire. At this stage, our principal consideration is scheme design and we will be looking to provide a realistic financial framework for the relocation after the respective planning applications are determined.” The spokesman added: “We are extremely grateful for the level of support shown and will now work on refining our plans for submission of our planning applications early in the New Year.” Plans for a new stadium include: • 3,000 seats and 1,000 terracing that can be delivered in separate phases; • Hospitality accommodation and complementary non-football related uses; • Dedicated training facilities and additional playing pitches for community use; • Access off the A82 slip road; and • Car and coach parking.

One of those viewing the proposals was Simon Barrow, spokesman for the Sonstrust and who represents fans on the club board. He said: “This extraordinary turnout on two midweek afternoons and an early evening shows how keen fans and the community are to have a say on this ambitious development proposal.

“Many clearly like the idea of a better equipped stadium with training, community use and hospitality facilities.

“However, fans naturally want to be assured that the proposals will be financially and environmentally sustainable for all concerned.

“The club and its owners are now receiving specific feedback on issues like facilities, access to the site, and the phasing of the development.

“We welcome the fact that they have publicly stated that they are looking to provide a realistic financial framework for the relocation after the respective planning applications are determined.” Simon added: “What is absolutely clear is that people want to make sure that what is done is in the best interests of the club, its supporters and the local community.
