David Gordon asked the 14-year-olds if they thought he was a “lunatic” during the incident which took place on July 4 this year.

Gordon made comments towards the teenagers such as, “I’m going to die tonight” and “do you believe in God?” He then started waving his hand in front of one of their faces and saying, “look in my eyes, am I a lunatic?” The two girls felt intimidated by Gordon’s behaviour on platform 1 of the railway station and could smell alcohol from him. Part of the incident was witnessed by a woman who recognised Gordon. She intervened after overhearing one of the teenagers say, “That was so scary.” When the train arrived the girls boarded a different carriage from Gordon and the matter, which had been captured on CCTV, was reported to British Transport Police. He was traced a few days later at his home.

Gordon, who lives in Thistleneuk in the town, was due to be sentenced at Dumbarton Sheriff Court following the preparation of a criminal justice social work report.

But when the case called in front of Sheriff Brian Cameron, he revealed that a report previously called for did not provide sufficient details required by the court.

The sheriff called for Gordon to be interviewed by a social work representative in order that a supplementary report can be prepared. The matter will call again on December 23.
