Detective Sergeant Stuart Grainger is leading the inquiry.

He said: “This was quite simply a terrifying experience for the women concerned who thankfully, were not injured although they are utterly traumatised.

"I’d like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the shop at the time of the robbery to come forward. Our enquiries have so far told us that shortly before the robbery, the suspect waited nearby the shop until a male customer left before carrying out his attack.

"I’d like to speak to this man as he may have vital information which could assist with our enquiry.

"We’re also aware of a vehicle that was nearby, that pulled away immediately prior to the robbery. I’d like to speak to the driver of that vehicle, as they may be able to help us with the inquiry.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Clydebank CID on 101. Alternatively please contact Crimestoppers where information can be passed in confidence.
