More than 4,500 potholes have been repaired by West Dunbartonshire Council in the last 10 months.

The council has two dedicated teams out on the area’s roads inspecting and repairing any safety defects they spot to make roads as safe as possible.

The teams also respond to any pothole reports received from residents and aim to inspect and repair significant defects within 48 hours.

The council maintains over 220 miles of roads and invests over £500,000 annually on inspecting and repairing potholes.

Councillor Patrick McGlinchey, Convener of Infrastructure and Regeneration, said: "Potholes become a problem at this time of year due to freezing temperatures and the flooding which occurs when the ice thaws. We recognise this and that is why we have dedicated teams out repairing the damage to our roads.” Councillor David McBride, Vice-Convener of Infrastructure and Regeneration, added: “As a driver I appreciate how frustrating potholes can be. We need residents to report them to us so that we can get potholes repaired as soon as possible."

Residents can report a pothole via the council website at www.west-dunbarton.gov.uk, by emailing roads@west-dunbarton.gov.uk or by telephoning 01389 737631or 01389 737000 during office hours.
