A Dumbarton teen was sentenced last week for stealing his granddad’s bank card and going on a £2,000 spending spree.
Aidan Winters, 19, pleaded guilty to taking the card and making numerous purchases both online and in store at Asda, St James Retail Park, Dumbarton.
Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard the deception started on November 11, 2012, and lasted for a year.
The court heard Winter’s granddad was aged 64 at the time and in a care home and Winters, of Leven Street, was trusted to have his card to buy supplies.
Sheriff Simon Pender sentenced Winters to a community payback order involving paying £2,000 compensation, carrying out 270 hours of unpaid work and being under supervision for 18 months.
