The Link Up initiative won the Local Matters category for outstanding quality of service to the public.
The project enables older people to access a range of community health, social work, and third sector services through a single point of access. Staffed by trained volunteers, the service helps reduce stress for older people and their families by offering prompt access to local services providing support and direct referral opportunities to services such as befriending and assisted shopping.
Councillor Gail Casey, convener of WD CHCP, said: “Winning a COSLA Gold Award is absolutely fantastic news and I am delighted that this excellent team has been recognised yet again for the services it provides to our elderly residents. It is important for elderly residents to have access to the right information at the right time and from the right service provider, and this service offers exactly that.” There will be a Community Craft Fair in Bowling Hall, Saturday March 28 from 11am-3pm.
Visitors can entre free and there’s tea and cake for sale. Everyone is welcome to head along.
