A Buddhist monk who fled persecution in his homeland and helped run Scotland's first Tibetan Buddhist monastery is giving a talk in Dumbarton.
Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche will be speaking about mindfulness and comes with a recommendation from the Dalai Lama, who said: "If you want to know about meditation, look no further than Lama Yeshe Losal."
Lama Yeshe arrived in Scotland in 1969 and helped set up the largest Tibetan Buddhist centre in Europe, Kagyu Samye Ling, near Eskdalemuir.
A decade earlier, he was forced to flee Tibet and endured an ardous six-month journey to India, aged just 16.
In 1995 Lama Yeshe formally became abbot and retreat master of Samye Ling.
At the same time Samye Ling acquired Holy Isle in the Firth of Clyde, which Lama Yeshe has established as the 'Centre for World Peace and Health' which facilitates course and seminars of all spiritual traditions in the commitment to interfaith.
His talk is on Saturday April 18 at 7.30 pm in Dumbarton Library.
Tickets are free and are available from any West Dunbartonshire Library.
