IT was the end of an era for the school leavers at Our Lady and St Patrick’s High School in Dumbarton's Hawthornhill Road- but they ended their secondary school careers on a major high.

The Normandy Hotel in Renfrew was the setting last Thursday for their leavers' dance and a great time was had by all.

The girls looked stunning in their party dresses, while the gents looked equally impressive, suited and booted for the occasion.

After dinner the leavers took to the dancefloor to dance the night away and enjoy a well-earned break from the rigours of recent exams.

It will also be a new era for existing and future pupils at the school as £25m is being spent on rebuilding it.

The new 1000-pupil school will feature state of the art classrooms, which will fully support the Curriculum for Excellence, an ICT suite, construction skills area and hospitality kitchen as well as outdoor teaching spaces and an allotment garden.

The facility will also include a floodlit all-weather sports pitch for football and hockey, three outdoors games courts, a fitness suite, gyms, games hall with retractable bleacher seating and a flexible social space incorporating performance space.

All of the facilities will be available for community use outwith school hours.

And the new three-storey school will be fully accessible for disabled pupils and staff.
