A MAN is to stand trial next month for the alleged assault of another man and robbery.

William McKell, whose address was given as prisoner of Low Moss, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, August 9 for his trial diet.

It's alleged that, on April 13 this year, Mr McKell assaulted a man at a property in McColl Avenue, Tullichewan, by striking him over the head and body with a baseball bat or similar instrument, to the victim's serious injury and permanent disfigurement and that he did rob him of a mobile phone, £120 and a wallet.

It's also alleged that the 38-year-old broke into a property in McColl Avenue between April 14 and April 15 this year, both dates inclusive, and steal a laptop and SIM card.

It is further alleged that on April 19 2017, at McColl Avenue, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear and alarm in that he did shout, swear, behave in an aggressive manner and brandish a baseball bat at police officers.

Mr McKell denies all the charges.

Trial was set for Monday, September 11.
