Dark forces at work?

Profile by Mike Farrell

A SEEMINGLY solved mystery is being questioned by a man who believes there are 'paranormal' forces at work at a Dumbarton Bridge.

The incredible cases of dogs leaping to their death from Overtoun Bridge had been closed following a scientific investigation.

But Utopias Shinne, 44, is disputing how full proof its findings were.

Channel Five documentary, The Dog Suicide Bridge, found in 2006 that mink were prompting the animals to jump.

But, Mr Shinne challenges this and has been researching the incidents and the history of the great house for a book he is writing.

He told the Reporter: 'Although the scent theory is scientifically credible, it is not watertight and it is quite obvious that another type of explanation must be found.'

Since the 1950s around 50 dogs have died at Overtoun Bridge.

Mr Shinne claims that there is more to the incidents than the scent of mammals attracting the pets.

He said: 'Recent psychic research at the bridge has revealed ghostly sightings of a white or grey lady present on the bridge, while another medium experienced an apparition of an angry ghost."
