Fans' bid to attract 'huge' name to Lennon memorial match
ONE of football's biggest names has been asked to be part of a special tribute match in memory of late Sons captain Gordon Lennon.
Although the identity of the manager is currently a guarded secret, those behind the event are hopeful that the "high profile" name will take his place in the dug-out.
A challenge match has been organised to raise cash for the Gordon Lennon Memorial Fund which will see the bulk of last season's championship winning side take on a select team made up of players that Gordon played with at other clubs.
And there is even the possibility that the match in honour of former Dumbarton FC captain, nicknamed Guido, who was tragically killed in an accident in June, could become an annual event.
The match will be played at Strathclyde Homes Stadium on Sunday November 15 at 2pm.
Tickets are now available from the club and from Ryans Pet Centre, 157 High Street, Dumbarton, and although there is no set price a donation of £5 or more is sought per ticket.
Tickets will also be available online from October 26.
